Grigor Dimitrov lost the first round match at US Open to No 49 Benoit Paire of France 7-5 3-6 6-7(4) 2-6. It is second year in a row at US Open when Dimitrov cannot advance to the second round. And this is 4th consecutive loss - to Gilles Simon at the second round of the Olympics, to Marco Chiudinelli at the first round of the qualifications of Toronto Masters, to Rajeev Ram at the first round of the qualifications of Cincinnati Masters.
During the match with Paire, Grigor had problems with his left leg, he called therapist and pointed his leg while looking towards the coach during the last game of the match.
The next tournament where Dimitrov applied to is Thailand Open in almost 1 month time.
