Grigor Dimitrov defeated Xavier Malisseof Belgium 6-3 6-2 in his debut in the main draw of ATP Masters in Monte Carlo, Monaco. The 21 year old Bulgarian saved four of the five break points he faced and broke Malisse four times to prevail in 77 minutes. The head-to-head score now is 1-1 after the win of Malisse in Bucharest last year. Dimitrov gained 45 ranking points and 17'235 EUR of the prize money.
In the second round Grigor Dimitrov will play No 10 Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia who skipped the first round as Seed 8. This will be 4th attempt for Grigor to take the win after the 3 previous losses to Tipsarevic - at Miami Masters in 2012 and in Washington and Eastbourne in 2011. Tipsarevic won his 4th ATP Tour title in Chennai earlier this year after the 3 previous in Stuttgart, 2012, and Moscow and Kuala Lumpur, 2011.
