In the first round of the ATP Challenger in Cherbourg, France, Grigor Dimitrov defeated David Guez (France) in two sets both decided in tie-breaks 7-6(3) 7-6(4) within more than 2 hours. In the first set the players broke once the service of the opponent to each to 6-6 and eventually Dimitrov won the tie-break 7-3. In the second set Grigor had to defend 9 break-points and saved 8 of them. The set ended in a similar to first - Grigor took the tie-break 7-4 and the match. Dimitrov gained 8 ATP ranking points.
The opponent of Grigor in the second round will be decided in a match on Tuesday - the winner of Josselin Ouanna (France) and Ivo Minar (Czech Republic).
Grigor Dimitrov entered the doubles tournament in partnership with Konstantin Kravchuk of Russia. On Tuesday in the first round the Bulgarian-Russian pair will play Pavol Cervenak (Slovakia) and Ivo Minar (Czech Republic).
