Grigor Dimitrov Will Play at the Final of Brisbane International
06 January 2024
This is only the third time in the history of the Brisbane International that the top two players have made it to the men's singles final. The last time this happened was in 2011.

Grigor Dimitrov, the second-best player, made it to the final this year. He won against Australian player Jordan Thompson with scores of 6-3 and 7-5 in the semifinals at Pat Rafter Arena tonight.

This win means Dimitrov will be in the Brisbane tournament's final for the third time. He was in the final before in 2013, where he lost to Andy Murray, and in 2017, when he won the title.

Roger Federer from Switzerland is the only other player who has been in three men's singles finals at this tournament.

Dimitrov said, "It's been a tremendous couple of weeks for me." He came to Brisbane early to get ready for this year's tournament in 2024.

"It's a very humble moment for me. I'm just enjoying it and I'm very happy to be back in the finals."

Now, Dimitrov, who is ranked 14th in the world, is getting ready for the final match against Denmark's Holger Rune tomorrow.

Dimitrov played against Rune, the world's eighth-best player, two times in 2023, and they each won once.

Dimitrov told the audience during his interview on the court, "At the moment I’m living my dream, doing what I love, being in the final, playing in front of you guys, so there’s so many positives."

"I just want to enjoy every single moment and stay in the moment. Win or lose, I’ll keep on going. Tomorrow I get to play another match, so I’m very grateful."
